2010 NFL Draft: Brandon Marshall Trade Market is Quiet...Too Quiet.

The NFL Draft now is 12 days away, as more buzz continues to hit the NFL world.
The top ten has seen a shakeup since the Donovan McNabb trade went down on Easter Sunday, which has led to the hype and criticism quarterbacks Jimmy Clausen and Sam Bradford face.
The Denver Broncos currently own the 11th overall pick, and don't plan on drafting a quarterback. In fact, the plan looks to be a defensive player for the Broncos.
But there is a high profile player on the market that the Broncos are looking to deal, wide receiver Brandon Marshall.
If you aren't aware of why Marshall wants out, then you have missed two controversial offseasons of football.
Up to this point, both sides want to move on. Marshall wants to be paid like the best receiver in football, while Broncos management wants to move on from his headache.
The question is, where? The Seattle Seahawks seemed the team primed to make a splash on Marshall. But after visiting with Seattle, the talks died down completely.
Marshall's trade value has not changed one bit, currently a first round pick is the cost.
Will Denver have to lower it's price if that desperate to move Marshall? At this point, that seems the likely choice.
Rumors have begun of the Washington Redskins showing an interest in Marshall. Owner Dan Snyder throws money and draft picks like the world is coming to an end (it's not 2012 yet).
Though, it is unlikely that the Redskins would give up next year's first rounder with Mike Shanahan running the show, be aware of the Snyder.
However, after reading a few columns today on the Marshall trade market, I have to agree with them.
This is far from over, as these ramblings are too quiet.
We are talking about one of the best receivers in football here. I am quite surprised that Marshall has not been moved.
After all, there are quiet a few teams I see that should make the move.
The Miami Dolphins and Jacksonville Jaguars come to mind. Both of teams have no true number one, and trading a first round pick for a young, impact player could do the trick.
The Cincinnati Bengals could also be a landing spot. They are rumored to be drafting Dez Bryant if he falls to No. 21, so why not trade the first rounder for Marshall?
My biggest wild card in this market is the New England Patriots, especially if the Broncos decide come draft day to lower the price at all.
The Patriots have plenty of draft picks in this year's class, and could move a few of them to land Marshall.
Teams have until April 15 to sign Marshall to a tender sheet. I don't see that occurring, so the rumors will carry out through draft weekend.
There must be some unknown team in all of this. Brandon Marshall is too talented to not have a market, despite his off the field problems.
So expect the Brandon Marshall rumor mill to heat up during draft week, along with the first day of the draft.
The Broncos want to move Marshall, and will be waiting for a suitor who is willing to deal some top draft picks to acquire arguably the most talented receiver in the game today.

'Wizard of Oz' actor Meinhardt Raabe died Friday morning in Orange Park, Florida of a presumed heart attack, the NY Times has confirmed. He was 94.

According to his caregiver, Cindy Bosnyak, Raabe was taken to a nearby hospital after he collapsed and went into cardiac arrest at the Penney Retirement Community in Penney Farms, Florida, where he had lived since 1986. Prior to collapsing, Raabe complained of having a sore throat.

Raabe was best known for his uncredited, 13-second role in the Oscar-winning classic, during which he uttered the famous lines "As coroner, I must aver, I thoroughly examined her. And she's not only merely dead, She's really most sincerely dead." He was one of the last surviving Munchkins, according to the report.

Though the 'Wizard of Oz' marked his only appearance on the big screen, Raebe, who was 4 feet 7 inches at his tallest, had a long and successful career, including an almost 30-year stint as Little Oscar, mascot of Oscar Mayer meats.

A University of Wisconsin graduate and World War II veteran, Raebe was married to the late Marie Hartline, who died in 1997. He is survived by his sister, Marion Ziegelmann.

In a move that is sure to rattle its developers, Twitter has agreed to acquire Atebits, the start-up that makes the Tweetie apps for using Twitter on Mac computers and iPhones. The acquisition price was not disclosed.
This marks a new strategy, as Twitter makes its first foray into providing a mobile and desktop client itself. On Friday, Twitter also announced that it helped Research in Motion build an “official” Twitter app for BlackBerrys.
In the past, Twitter has focused on its Web site, twitter.com, and left the development of Twitter mobile clients up to start-ups like Tweetie, Twitterrific and UberTwitter.
Ahead of Chirp, Twitter’s first developer conference next week, developers have been getting nervous that Twitter plans to build or buy more apps for itself, which could put them out of business.
Fred Wilson, an investor at Union Square Ventures and a longtime Twitter board member, stoked those fears in a blog post in which he wrote that many third-party Twitter services, including mobile clients like Tweetie’s, are features that Twitter should offer itself. Instead, he recommended that developers focus on other kinds of services, like business tools, analytics or gaming.
In a recent interview, prior to the acquisition announcement, Twitter’s chief executive, Evan Williams, had a similar message.
“There’s some misunderstanding around platforms,” Mr. Williams said. “There’s both a natural win-win relationship between a platform provider and third-party developers, and there’s a natural tension.”
When Twitter realized it needed its own search engine, it bought Summize, which made one. “Since we’re still evolving, that may happen more,” Mr. Williams said. The Atebits acquisition is a prime example.
Twitter, which raised $100 million in September, has the cash to go on a shopping spree. It cannot hire engineers quickly enough to support the explosive growth of the company, so buying other features is a way to grow quickly.
The acquisition is Twitter’s third. It previously acquired Summize and Mixer Labs, which helps developers build location-based services.
Atebits was founded by Loren Brichter, a software developer who used to work for Apple on the iPhone. It sells for $2.99, is the most popular mobile Twitter client and won an Apple Design Award last year. Twitter will offer it for free and rename it Twitter for iPhone.
On the Mac computer version, Tweetie runs ads from Fusion Ads, an ad network. Twitter has said that it will consider some sort of advertising in the near future.

The issue is so sensitive that for decades Moscow flatly denied any involvement in the murder of thousands of Polish military officers, politicians and artists during the Second World War, insisting that the murders were instead carried out by the Nazis. It is only in recent years that Moscow officially admitted responsibility, and President Kaczynski and his party were on their way to attend a special event to commemorate the massacre.
Although tensions still remain between Moscow and Warsaw, the fact the Russian government has now admitted responsibility for the massacre was seen as an attempt by the Russians to repair relations with their Polish neighbours.
But while this tragic plane crash is unlikely to materially affect this diplomatic rapprochement, it will nevertheless have a lasting impact on Polish attitudes to the Katyn massacre. Instead of trying to consign the Katyn saga to the history books, whenever Katyn is mentioned in future they will be reminded of the plane crash that claimed the lives of their president and his entourage.
