Underworld 4

Underworld 4 New Dawn Movie.

Underworld 4 is the sequel to the 2009 Underworld Rise of the lycans. It was about the feudal dispute created by the love affair of one vampire and one lycan which was the cause of their great war. It was also confirmed that Kate Beckinsale would return as Selene, where her role will be more on guiding a much younger vampire to continue her quest for peace as many have speculated.

Expect some high rise heart beat in this upcoming movie as Kate Beckinsale and Sandrine Holt takes their roles to new heights as this movie will be out in 3D. It is said that Underworld 4 will have some scenes in space but this is just a speculation and has not yet been confirmed. Underworld 4 is set to be released on January 20, 2012 as some unexpected delays could not be avoided. Underworld 4 produced by Tom Rosenberg from ScreenGems and Lakeshore and is directed by Len Wiseman and Patrick Tatopoulos and it is said to be the first chapter in a trilogy movie.

X 37B

X-37B launch delayed due to weather.

CAPE CANAVERAL – Weather delayed the launch of the second of the United States Air Force’s Orbital Test Vehicles (OTV). The X-37B, as it is more commonly known, sate encapsulated within its fairing on top of the Atlas V 501 launch vehicle at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station (CCAFS).

It appeared that the launch might occur at the first launch window, which opened at 3:50 p.m. EDT. However high-level ground winds forced a delay. The second launch window was for 5:27 p.m. EDT, but by this time the winds had increased, Cumulous Clouds had moved into the area – bringing heavy rains in with them, forcing a scrub for the day. The plans are now for a 24-hour recycle of the launch, however tomorrow does not look much better with similar weather threatening the launch.

The first OTV, USA-212 lifted off from the exact same launch pad on 22 April 2010 and returned to Earth on Dec. 3, 2010. The return to earth tested out the space planes heat shield as well as the vehicle’s hypersonic aerodynamic aspects. The space plane is small enough to be carried within the U.S. space shuttle’s payload bay, it landed at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California.

Dan Henderson

Strikeforce: Dan Henderson vs 'Feijao' Cavalcante preview.

Tonight (March 5), Strikeforce brings its stable of stars to Columbus, Ohio, to invade the Nationwide Arena for the "Feijao vs. Henderson" event.

MMAmania.com will provide live round-by-round, blow-by-blow coverage of all the main card action starting with the Showtime broadcast, which begins at 10 p.m. ET, while also providing quick results of the preliminary fights starting at 8 p.m. ET.

With that out of the way, let's talk about the main event of the evening, featuring the legendary Dan Henderson attempting to win yet another championship by ripping it from the hands of Muay Thai killer Rafael Cavalcante.

"Hendo" was last seen separating Renato Sobral from his senses last December to earn his shot at the light heavyweight title.

"Feijao" hasn't seen action since his outstanding performance against Muhammed Lawal last August, in which he won the 205-pound strap.

He's drawn one hell of a test in his first defense of said belt. Is he good enough to pass the exam?

Check it:

Star-divide

Dan Henderson

Record: 26-8 overall, 1-1 in Strikeforce

Key Wins: Michael Bisping (UFC 100), Renato Sobral (Strikeforce: Henderson vs. Babalu 2), Wanderlei Silva (PRIDE 33), Rich Franklin (UFC 93)

Key Losses: Quinton Jackson (UFC 75), Anderson Silva (UFC 82), Jake Shields (Strikeforce: Nashville)

How he got here: Henderson is no stranger to this whole MMA thing. He's been around the block a few times and went head up against some of the best in the history of the sport. While he hasn't always come out on the other side with the proverbial "W," he did what he does best against "Babalu" to earn this chance at gold. Despite the lack of depth Strikeforce has in its light heavyweight division, this is still a shot Dan earned the hard way.

How he gets it done: Same way he has always gotten it done; unload that missile of a right hand when the opportunity presents itself and use his wrestling when things get tight. "Decision Dan" can't make a comeback here though. Yes, he's an Olympic level wrestler but he needs to use that to set up the big punch. Cavalcante's been rocked before by guys with lesser power than Henderson. "Hollywood" needs to make his way out to the cage tonight and impose his game. "Feijao" is a killer in the clinch but "Hendo" isn't just competent there, he also might be just as "Dangerous." Enough nicknames for you? Good. Basically, dirty boxing if he has too, but use his wrestling to tire Rafael out and push off for the big right.

Rafael Cavalcante

Record: 10-2 overall, 3-1 in Strikeforce

Key Wins: Muhammed Lawal (Strikeforce: Houston), Antwainn Britt (Strikeforce: Heavy Artillery)

Key Losses: Marcio Cruz (IFL: Las Vegas), Mike Kyle (Strikeforce: Lawler vs. Shields)

How he got here: By absolutely mauling "King Mo" Lawal in Houston back in August of last year to win the light heavyweight crown. It's rather unfortunate that so very few fans know who this guy is because he's one of the better 205-pound fighters in the sport today. He's training with one of, if not thee, most elite teams in all of MMA. His Muay Thai clinch is deadly and he's got knockout power in both hands, both knees, both feet and let's just say it's a good thing headbutts aren't legal. Kidding aside, he's got what it takes to become the first guy to knockout Dan Henderson.

How he gets it done: Even saying that, however, the gameplan should not be to try to knock Henderson out. As much as it may upset the live audience and the hundreds viewing at home, I think he needs to play defense for the majority of the fight. The last time "Hendo" was dragged into deep waters, what happened? Yeah, THAT happened. Jake Shields tooled him in every conceivable way. Sure, you can blame the weight cut for that, which Dan won't have this time around, but we don't know if that was actually the case. Could he simply be getting too old to hang with the young hungry lions in today's game? I think "Feijao" should give us a first hand look.

Fight "X-Factor:" As I was just alluding to, it's conditioning. Because Henderson's chin is made of granite, there is no reason to think Cavalcante will become the first guy to finish him with strikes. In fact, I can't even envision in my mind what that would look like. I also couldn't do that with Lyoto Machida before "Shogun" Rua put his lights out, so that doesn't mean much. What I'm saying is, this fight is most likely to come down to who can last the longest. I see a lot of clinch work and pummeling against the cage. Who's going to get tired first?

Bottom Line: I have no clue who to pick to win this fight. On the one hand, Henderson has never been knockout out and only ever submitted by the best in the business. On the other hand, the guys that submitted him, are all members of Team Black House, the elite team that "Feijao" is a member of and the same guys that have been giving him the dirt on "Hendo" in the lead-up to this fight. My two questions for this fight are: Does the big right hand from Henderson land? Who gets tired first. My two answers are: No and Dan. The same guy that walks into the cage with the belt around his waist, will walk out of it with it.

Marloes Coenen

Strikeforce: Marloes Coenen Submits Liz Carmouche In Comeback Win to Retain Title.

Marloes Coenen scored a come from behind victory in her first title defense, submitting Liz Carmouche in the fourth round of their fight at Strikeforce: “Feijao” vs. Henderson.

Carmouche looked like she was on her way to being crowned the new champ, but Coenen showed resilience and secured a triangle choke for the win.

The fighters started out intense, with both trading leg kicks. Coenen did a good job of countering kicks with straight rights and scored a few times in the first round with that type of offense. The two clinched against the cage, with both fighters getting short strikes and foot stomps in, but the referee felt there was not enough action and separated them. Both fighters did well in the opening five minutes and fought a close round.

Coenen came out for the second round with a bruised right eye. Carmouche rushed her opponent and the two clinched against the cage again. Coenen tried the standing guillotine, but Carmouche escaped and landed in her opponent’s guard. Carmouche stacked up the champion and landed a huge power shot from a standing position. Back to the ground, Carmouche worked in North-South position and controlled Coenen. The Champion was fully mounted by Carmouche in the last minute and the challenger struck her opponent repeatedly until the end of the round.

Carmouche opened up the third round clinching Coenen again. Short strikes were the theme in that sequence. Coenen used some knees to soften up her opponent, but Carmouche tripped her and got the fight back to the ground. Carmouche was able to get full mount on her opponent once again, striking the champion to the face while in that position. The fight stayed in that position for the rest of the round.

Round four had Carmouche attempting another trip takedown, but Coenen was able to reverse it and land in the challenger’s guard. After getting back to the feet for a brief moment, the two went to the ground again where Coenen trapped Carmouche in a triangle while she had her opponent in her guard. The champion retained her title and submitted the challenger at 1:29 of the fourth.

“She will be a future champ someday,” Coenen said after pulling off the comback victory.

While speaking with Mauro Ranallo in her post-fight interview, Coenen talked about her next fight and what she thinks about the injured Miesha Tate, calling out fighter in the process.

“I would love to fight her,” she said about Tate. “Miesha, if you [saw] this, I will come and get you.”

Skippy Peanut Butter Recall

Skippy Peanut Butter Recall Caused.

Are you a peanut butter fan? If so, you may want to check product labels to make sure you're not affected by the latest peanut butter recall.

The recall, announced Friday, involves Skippy peanut butter jars labeled "reduced fat," both the creamy and super chunk products.

The recall is due to possible Salmonella contamination. A press release, linked to on the Skippy website, explains:

Unilever United States, Inc. today announced a limited recall of Skippy® Reduced Fat Creamy Peanut Butter Spread and Skippy® Reduced Fat Super Chunk Peanut Butter Spread, because it may be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

The recall is limited to retail stores in the following states: Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Iowa, Maine, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Wisconsin.

Jackie Collins

The Best-Selling Author Talks About Her New Book, 'Poor Little Bitch Girl'.

Jackie Collins’s 27th novel, Poor Little Bitch Girl, just hit The New York Times Best Seller list after only ten days of its American release. Collins has sold over 400 million copies of her novels and, to put that into perspective, Madonna has sold over 200 million albums to date.

I met Jackie Collins while I was traveling through the Southwest to work on my video piece, Studs, inspired by Jackie Collins’s novel, The Stud (1969). I was filming synchronized swimming hunk Bill May in Las Vegas and Cherokee Hollywood legend Wes Studi in Santa Fe. On the road through Arizona, I stopped at a Casino on the Maricopa Indian Reservation to intercept Jackie Collins’s book tour and talk to her about the very novel which I am basing my video.

Sarah Baker: I’ve started a Jackie Collins book club in London. I know some people who love your books, plus I have recruited friends. At the first meeting, I read from the novel and screened the film The Stud. Club members came along dressed in ’70s glamour, and martinis were served while we ate cupcakes and deliberated. The pictures are now featured in a magazine called Undercurrent. I am planning to do the next book club meeting at the Dorchester Hotel.

Ice Castles

Incredible Ice Castles Grown by a Minnesota Man Using Geothermal Heating System.

Winters in Minnesota are cold and the best way to get through the bone-chilling season is to have fun with it, just like Roger Hanson does. For the last four years the ice builder has been growing ice castles in his front yard with the help of his geothermal heating system, some fancy sprayers and a computer program he created himself. Each year the crystalline castles at Hanson's Winter Water Wonder are getting bigger and bigger with more intricate rigging systems and more complicated programming.

Big Ten Wrestling Championships

The Big Ten Wrestling Championships brackets have been released.

PARK RIDGE, Ill. - The Big Ten Conference has announced the preliminary seeds for the 2011 Big Ten Wrestling Championships, which are set to take place from March 5-6 at Welsh-Ryan Arena on the campus of Northwestern University. The pre-seeds, which rank the top eight wrestlers in each of the 10 weight classes, are decided based on a vote by the conference coaches.

Wrestlers from four schools have been chosen as No. 1 seeds for this year’s championships. Penn State leads the way with five top seeds, while Wisconsin has earned three and Iowa and Michigan have each received one No. 1 seed. Minnesota is the lone Big Ten team to have a seeded grappler in each of the 10 weight classes.

The fourth-ranked Nittany Lions will send five No. 1 seeds to the mat this weekend, as Andrew Long (11-1 overall record at 133 pounds), Frank Molinaro (25-2 at 149), David Taylor (31-0 at 157), Ed Ruth (29-1 at 174) and Cameron Wade (26-4 at 285) have each earned top billing in their respective weight classes. Ruth and Taylor enter the weekend ranked No. 2 nationally in their classes by the NCAA Coaches Panel, while Molinaro owns a No. 3 ranking, Long sits at No. 5 and Wade is ranked No. 6.

The Badgers, ranked 15th in the nation, picked up three top seeds in Andrew Howe (18-2 at 165), Travis Rutt (26-1 at 184) and Trevor Brandvold (11-0 at 197). Howe, the reigning national champion at 165, is currently ranked No. 2 in the nation. After winning an individual conference title at 197 last season, Brandvold holds a No. 3 ranking entering the weekend, while Rutt is ranked No. 2 at 184.

Reigning national champion Matt McDonough holds a 20-1 record at 125 for Iowa this season en route to the class’ top seed. The Hawkeye sophomore is ranked No. 2 in the country entering the championships. Michigan’s Kellen Russell boasts a 30-0 record this season, earning the top seed at 141. Russell, a two-time Big Ten Champion, enters the weekend as the top-ranked grappler at 141.

Iowa, Michigan and Wisconsin will each bring nine seeded wrestlers to the championships, while Penn State boasts eight and Northwestern holds seven. After clinching their fourth-straight conference regular season dual-meet title this season, the Hawkeyes will look to earn their fourth consecutive Big Ten Championships title. Canelo Alvarez Vs Hatton

Watch HBO Boxing: Saul “Canelo” Alvarez vs. Matthew Hatton.

Young rising Mexican boxing star Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez (35-0-1,26 KOs) takes on Matthew Hatton (41-4-2, 16 KOs) at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California for the vacant WBC Junior-Middleweight title that was previously held by Manny Pacquiao.

The weigh-ins for the event were marred with a bit of controversy when Canelo failed to make the agreed upon catchweight of 150-pounds (WBC Junior-Middleweight limit is 154) and came in over 1.8 pounds. Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez was fined 20 percent of his $350,000 fight purse when he failed a second time to make weight, and half of his earnings for tonight’s fight will go to his opponent Matthew Hatton.

Also on the HBO broadcast is a co-feature between two top level Super-Featherweights Daniel Ponce de Leon (41-2, 34 KOs) vs. Adrien Broner (19-0, 16 KOs). Ponce de Leon was a terror at the Junior-Featherweight division of 122-pounds and known for his powerful punches and pressure, but difficulty in making weight prompted his move to 126 and now 130-pound divisions. Broner also known as ‘The Problem’ comes from Cincinnati, Ohio and is a highly touted boxing prospect, who used to fight at 135-pounds but is looking to make his mark at 130 .

Watch HBO Boxing After Dark: Canelo vs. Hatton and Ponce De Leon vs. Broner live Saturday March 5, 2011 at 10:30 PM ET/PT on HBO.

Iditarod 2011

Iditarod 2011: Can Lance Mackey Make It Five Straight Wins?

Mar 5, 2011 - Ready, set, mush. The 2011 Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race begins this weekend, with Lance Mackey seeking an unprecedented fifth straight win in the "Last Great Race on Earth." The 39th running of the race opens with a ceremonial start in downtown Anchorage Saturday morning (2 p.m. EST), followed by the official restart in Willow on Sunday (6 p.m. EST). The temperature Saturday morning in Anchorage is 1° (one), with a high forecasted at 22°.

The Iditarod is an annual race from Anchorage to Nome, covering around 1,100 miles through the cold, harsh, unforgiving Alaskan wilderness. The race aims to honor Alaska's pioneering and brave past.

The Iditarod Trail ... had its beginnings as a mail and supply route from the coastal towns of Seward and Knik to the interior mining camps ... Mail and supplies went in. Gold came out. All via dog sled. Heroes were made, legends were born.

In 1925, part of the Iditarod Trail became a life saving highway for epidemic-stricken Nome. Diphtheria threatened and serum had to be brought in; again by intrepid dog mushers and their faithful hard-driving dogs.

DeeDee Jonrowe, a cancer survivor, three-time runner up in the Iditarod and record holder of the fastest time ever recorded by a woman, will be the first of 62 teams out of the chute Saturday morning. But the focus will be on Lance Mackey, who has won a record four consecutive Iditarods and will be looking to make it five straight in 2011. A fifth win would match Rick Swenson for the most by any musher (Swenson and Martin Buser, a four-time champion who holds the record for the fastest time ever -- 8 days, 22 hours, 46 minutes -- are also competing in this year's race).

Mackey, who beat throat cancer in 2001, made history with his fourth win in 2010, earning his place among mushing's greatest ever (see adorable picture of Mackey and his lead dogs here). The 62 teams of mushers and their dogs are racing for $50,400 this year. The top-30 finishers will split the $528,000 purse, down from $875,000 in 2008).

On Wednesday, the mushers brought their dog teams to Iditarod Headquarters in Wasilla for the mandatory veterinarian check-ups. It's a chance not only for the vets to ensure the health of all the dogs, but it also gives the mushers a certain peace of mind.

Andrew Luster

Andrew Luster: The Convicted Max Factor Heir – Where is He Now?

It is a classic tale of the ‘poor little rich kid.’ Andrew Luster was born to riches, and was heir to a massive fortune. But the great grandson of cosmetic titan Max Factor threw it all away, thanks to his horrible crimes.

He grew up in Malibu and reportedly had a trust fund of over three million dollars that supported his traveling, trips and his passion for surfing. He had everything, except morals. In 1996, 1997 and 2000 he reportedly drugged three different women with the date rape drug GHB, he that – while they were unconscious – raped them. He was caught and while on trial he escaped and left the country. He was a fugitive. The trial went on – in absentia – and he was found guilty of a stunning 86 or the 87 counts against him.

He settled in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico where he was living it up and hitting the waves. But while the TV cameras were rolling, Duane ‘Dog’ Chapman – the reality show bounty hunter caught him.

Where is he now?

He is serving a 124-year prison sentence at the Mule Creek State Prison in California. He won’t be eligible for parole until he serves 85% of his sentence, which would make it 2108. This means he will be spending the rest of his life in prison.

His victims? Two of them won civil suites and were awarded $39 million, but the money is still being determined to how much they’ll actually get. And there are two other – much younger victims – his two children with his ex-girlfriend who are now seven and nine.

There was a made for TV movie made of his tale called, ” A Date With Darkness: The Trial and Capture of Andrew Luster,” showing all the tragedy.

Texas coach

Texas coach leads team to state semis just hours after giving birth.

There's dedication to a team, and then there's Amber Branson. The Lipan (Texas) High girls basketball coach led her team to a regional semifinal victory on Friday, then gave birth to her third child a few hours later. With the regional final scheduled for Saturday, it was assumed that the coach would miss her team's chance to advance to the state playoffs, but Branson had other ideas.

nstead of taking a well-earned day off, Branson returned to the bench on Saturday, leading Lipan to a come-from-behind, 45-41 victory over Newcastle, sending the Indians to the state semifinals for the first time in eight years.

Perhaps it's no wonder that the Lipan girls basketball team motto in 2011 is "If it's easy, I don't want it."

"I was pretty tired," an incredibly understated Branson told the Associated Press of her return to the court just hours after giving birth. "I never felt like I couldn't do it. God's been good to me this week."

In fact, Branson's claim that her between-games birth was fated may have something to it. The coach reached a hospital in Abilene, where the regional finals were being played, about 9 p.m., shortly after her team's regional semi victory. By 10 p.m., daughter Leslie had already been born, a labor too quick to even allow for an epidural injection.

Yet, had Branson received that epidural shot, she might not have been able to recover in time to coach the game on Saturday, even though doing so did require her to leave Leslie behind in the hospital for a few hours.

"That was all part of God's plan. If I had the epidural, I might not have been able to make [the game]," Branson said.

"I would have taken [daughter Leslie] with me if I could have."

She wasn't able to, but by the time she came back to her newborn, Branson was also the coach of a regional champion basketball team, a squad which followed her shortly thereafter and took a photo with their coach and her new baby.

The Bransons -- including daughter Leslie -- were all at the state semifinals, where Lipan faced a stern test against Neches in the penultimate Class 1A Div. II game of the season. Regardless of the outcome of her team's game, Branson said something tells her Friday might not be the last time Leslie makes it to Austin, either.

"I guess she's making her own history," Branson said. "I hope we'll be back in 15 years to watch her play."

Keep It Weird: In the Beginning.

I'd put a dinosaur anywhere. Wedding centerpieces, back tattoos, R&B ballads — it's all good in my book. Built for survival, maybe, but I like to think of their slick patterned skin, long slender talons, and bold geometric plates as straight up fabulous. When it comes to Keep It Weird's prehistoric beasts, I'm not too concerned about extinction.

Winter Organic Vegetable Growing and Production Improvement.

he production of vegetables is largely altered when considering in the summer and winter. The production rate is much higher than what we get in the winter. This is of the usual scenario till last year. But there is appreciable growth in the current production year.
Reason for low production :

During winter seasons the climate in the area nearly drops to 0 degrees. This temperature is not suited for the vegetables that are grown in the area. The climate will retard the growth of the plant causing it give a low production rate. The vegetables water content gets frozen due to the cold temperature and this will cause the dying of plants and in some cases change in the chemical composition too. This is the main reason felt with the plants in the cold region by the vegetable farmers.
Steps to improve it:

The conventional process taken to overcome this difficulty faced by the farmers is by making use of the greenhouse climate to them. The greenhouse is a place where the whole room covered with the glasses so it will trap the sunlight in the room and cause a high temperature in the room than the surrounding to make the plants to grow fine as they grow in the summer. The plants also are easy to maintain in a closed atmosphere. The pest control is of a easy task over these areas. Then about considering the watering and other phenomenon more controlled environment can be provided to the plants grown in these areas. The growing rate can be improved in these plants by the usage of straw bales in the process. It is the wheat straw that are used often in their process.
Production Maintenance:

The production rate improvement can most significantly maintained by the use of more conventional implementation of the production laws. The first thing is removal of wastages, which can be achieved in the vegetables by eliminating the occurrence of defects in the vegetables. So the pest control and proper fertilizers has to be provided to the plants. In addition to it the transport defects has to mean and the necessary steps has to be taken to avoid it. The vegetable automation can be implemented to improve the production rate by reducing its ideal time. The periodic growth has to be improved by the use of inducers and catalyst to the on going process in the plants.

The production rate of vegetables in winter is very less. Shifting from the conventional growing process and using the greenhouse growing can improvise this. Then by using the production laws the rate of failure occurrence can be minimized. The other thing that has to be done is use the current technologies available.

Mega Millions Numbers

Mega Millions winning numbers hit $105 million.

The jackpot is back over three figures for tonight’s multi-state Mega millions lottery.

Tonight’s prize is $105 million, with a cash option for $66.1 million.

The last jackpot was won on February 1, with two winners splitting $93 million.

Many lottery players still remember January 4 of this year, when hundreds of potential winners waited in line for several hours to buy Mega Millions tickets for the $355 million drawing later on that evening.

According to njtoday.net, two New Jersey players won the Mega Millions second prize of $250,000 in the Tuesday, March 1 drawing. One of the winning tickets was sold at a Linden 7-11, while the other was purchases at State News in Jersey City.

Lottery Executive Director Carole Hedinger said they will each receive a bonus check for $500 for selling the winning tickets. According to Hedinger, 55,527 other New Jersey players took home $265,770 in prizes ranging from $2 to $10,000.

MEGA MILLIONS WINNING NUMBERS FOR MARCH 4, 2011:
8, 10, 15, 23, 41 Mega Ball = 7

Starting in January, New Jersey Mega millions players received another option to increase their chances of winning. For an extra $1.00 per play, they can add the Megaplier option to Mega Millions purchases.

According to the New Jersey Lottery web site, the Megaplier multiplies all prizes other than jackpot and second-tier prizes by the drawing's randomly selected Megaplier number — two, three or four. Players who purchase the Megaplier option and match five numbers without matching the Mega Ball automatically win $1,000,000, regardless of the Megaplier number. All other non-jackpot prizes will be multiplied by the Megaplier number drawn.

Megamillions.com reminds players that winners can choose how they would like to be paid. The annuity option provides annual payments over a 26-year period, while the cash option will be a one-time, lump-sum payment that is equal to the cash in the Mega Millions jackpot prize pool.

Estimated cash values are below:
Advertised Jackpot Annual Payout Approx. Cash Value

$12 million $461,538/year $7,042,000

$25 million $961,538/year $14,670,000

$60 million $2,307,692/year $35,210,000

$270 million $10,384,615/year $158,445,000

$331 million $12,730,769/year $194,242,000

Lotteryusa.com mentions that Mega Millions results are drawn at 11 p.m. on Tuesdays and Fridays and tickets can be purchased up to 15 minutes before the drawing.

Stevo Poulin

WATCH: Stevo Poulin the 8-Year-Old Wrestling Star AMAZING.

Stevo Poulin is a force to be reckoned with. He is a wrestling star that takes down the competition with a briskness that is stunning. He is quick. He is agile. And he almost always wins. And the most amazing thing? This mohawked wonder is just 8-year-old.

Stevo lives in Schuylerville, N.Y and in competition has a 256-26 record. Amazing odds. And he’s been at the wrestling game for a while, he started when he was in kindergarten when it was evident he had a knack for it.

Do you think having boys participating in such aggressive sports like wrestling at such a young age is okay? But since little boys love to wrestle anyways, is having them do it in a sports milieu just taking a athletic angle to their natural instincts?

Here's the video of the wrestling.

Strawberry Festival

Plant City’s Berry Best: The Florida Strawberry Festival Opens.

Thousands of people showed up for the first day of the Florida Strawberry Festival in Plant City yesterday. The 10-day festival, running from March 3-13, got off with a bang. The weather was beautiful and should remain the same through most of the weekend. Cool breezes and the smell of sweet treats wafted down the midway and through the event buildings. Racing pigs and lumberjack competitions, livestock competitions and a photography contest, and exhibits from the Future Farmers of America (FFA) all give the event a real hometown feel — plus, of course, lots and lots and lots of strawberries.

Quarts of strawberries being offered by Parksale Farms were hot sellers. Look at those beautiful red treats!

Hand-dipped white or dark chocolate fruit was one of the many variations available in the main exhibit building.

Brandon Farms brought strawberry preserves by the case. It's hometown goodness at its best.

Of course there's lots to do on the colorful midway. There are rides, games, people who will guess your age or weight, and much … MUCH more food.

Somehow this image just seems out of place for a hometown fair. I wonder what the originators of The Florida Strawberry Festival would say about a teeth whitening booth. Hey wait, $35? Sign me up!

The Strawberry Festival runs through March 13 in Plant City. Discount tickets are available at certain locations of Sweetbay Supermarkets

Some great music acts are coming to this year’s event. There are concerts every day from classic and contemporary country to rock and roll. Bands include the Doobie Brothers, Lady Antebellum, Clint Black, achybreaky Billy Ray Cyrus, George Jones and Rick Srpingfeild.

If you go, take an empty stomach and a sweet tooth. On the way out, don’t forget to pick up a flat or two of fresh Plant City berries!

Craigslist: A Company of Makers.

As people who hate meetings, we were particularly taken with one paragraph from this wonderful piece on the unlikely success of Craigslist. Among the counterintuitive business practices that help the company thrive: “Only programmers, customer service reps, and accounting staff work at Craigslist. There is no business development, no human resources, no sales. As a result, there are no meetings.” Of course they can’t have meetings. They’re too busy making things.

Lost In Space

Comic Book of the Week: Space Family Robinson - Lost in Space #33.

I didn’t forget about my pledge to share a comic book every week but I’ve been battling some nasty cold & flu bug on and off for weeks now and it’s really throwing me for a loop. I haven’t felt like spending too much time on my computer but I didn’t want to let another week go by without posting a few pages from one of my comic books so today I bring you Space Family Robinson: Lost In Space #33 published by Gold Key in 1969. It features art by Dan Spiegle and a story by Gaylord Du Bois.

Space Family Robinson debuted in 1962 and told the story of the Robinson family, which consisted of a couple of scientists (father Craig and mother June) and their two teenage children (Tam and Tim). The family lived on a large space craft called Space Station One that was “lost in space” after an enormous cosmic storm. In subsequent issues the Robinson family try to find their way back to earth and have many adventures in space along the way. Sound familiar? I bet it does! In 1965 Irwin Allen created the popular television show Lost In Space, which ran on CBS between (1965-68). It seemed to borrow many of its ideas from the Gold Key comic series but Irwin Allen claimed that he never saw the comic. Gold Key Comic publisher Western Publishing Company wasn’t buying it and they threatened legal action but a settlement was struck between CBS, Irwin Allen and the Western Publishing Company. Undisclosed amounts of money were given to the publisher and they were also allowed to add “Lost In Space” to the title of their comic so in 1966 Space Family Robinson became Space Family Robinson: Lost in Space. Both parties benefited from the name change. Gold Key got to advertise their comic book series as a tie-in with the popular television show and Lost In Space got free publicity by having the name of the show on the cover of a comic book but few people remember Gold Key’s comic today.

Lost in Space is one of my favorite television shows and I used to watch reruns of it religiously when I was a kid. It ran on KBHK-TV 44 in the San Francisco Bay Area during the ’70s and I rarely missed an episode. The comic is a fun read if you happen to be a fan of the show and I really like Dan Spiegle’s art. Below are some pages from the comic book including an advertisement for another one of my favorite TV shows, The Banana Splits (1968-70) as well as a few clips from both shows.

Playing Pepper 2011: Detroit Tigers.

Two years ago, I started a series I called Playing Pepper, where I asked questions of bloggers of each major league team about the season to come. Not only was that informative and entertaining, it led to the spawning of the Baseball Bloggers Alliance. With spring training coming up, it's time to get back into shape by again playing a little pepper.

Detroit Tigers (81-81, 13 GB and third in the AL Central)

After coming within a game of the postseason in 2009, 2010 was a disappointing season for Detroit. The biggest problem seemed to be the inability to win away from Comerica Park, as the team was +23 at home and, obviously, -23 away from it. Was this a mirage, a snakebit season that could be reversed easily this season?

Our panel for this panel comes mainly from the distaff side of the species. First up is Shelly, who writes over at Seamheads as well as having a presence at Switch Hitting Pitchers last season.

Following her is John Parent, the only man in the mix here. John, the Detroit BBA Chapter president, writes at Motor City Bengals and can be found on Twitter and also over at Facebook.

Rounding out the group is Erin from Tigers Amateur Analysis and Jennifer from Old English D. No Twitter or Facebook for any of the ladies (Shelly included) and Erin and Jennifer are relatively new members to the BBA.

These questions were sent out before Miguel Cabrera got stopped, otherwise there might been a little different tenor to them. So dive into the only Tigers preview that won't include the words DUI, at least from the questioner.

Enlarged Heart

The Michigan 16-year-old who died while making the winning shot to cap off his team’s undefeated season last night unknowingly suffered from an enlarged heart.

The Ottawa County medical examiner determined after an autopsy today that Wes Leonard suffered cardiac arrest as a result of the condition.

Leonard passed away last night after paramedics attempted to perform CPR on him after he collapsed at the end of the game. Leonard’s family told CBS News their son had no known previous heart condition.

“This was a total shock,” the family said. “He was ‘like a man’ and such an athletic boy, in seemingly perfect condition.”

Dilated cardiomyopathy is a condition in which the heart’s ability to pump blood is decreased because the heart’s main pumping chamber, the left ventricle, is enlarged and weakened, according to WebMD.

The condition can be hereditary or acquired, and could possibly have been the result of a virus. Associated symptoms include significant shortness of breath and heart failure. The condition cannot necessarily be detected during a routine health screen unless the patient is symptomatic.

Daniel Tosh

This weekend: ‘60 Minutes,’ ‘Daniel Tosh: Happy Thoughts,’ NAACP Image Awards — all have Central Florida connections.

Central Florida is going to make a splash on national television this weekend. Trust me.

Here’s how:

1. People will be talking about the Scott Pelley report that leads off “60 Minutes.” Pelley wanted to do a story about how children are suffering through the Great Recession. He told me he decided on Orlando because it is home to “the happiest place on Earth” and because Central Florida is one of the most challenged places in the country. The decision paid off because “60 Minutes” has found some thoughtful children to tell this heartbreaking story. (I’ll have an interview with Pelley over the weekend.) This is one of those reports that earns the overused term “must see.” CBS’ “60 Minutes” airs at 7 p.m. Sunday.

2. “Daniel Tosh: Happy Thoughts” features the comedian — who grew up in Titusville and graduated from the University of Central Florida — in a jaw-dropping standup act. Viewers know Tosh from the series “Tosh.0.” The ironically titled special, which debuts at 9 p.m. Sunday on Comedy Central, is not for the easily offended.

Tosh may look like a choirboy, but he has an extremely dark style, and he isn’t afraid to tackle any topic. He warns the audience, “Hang in there. It gets worse.”

The targets of his humor include his girlfriend, the Winter Olympics, star athletes, illegal immigration, gay sex, Twitter, Mormons, the Amish and baseball. His jokes about baseball records are especially memorable. The act was filmed in San Francisco, and Tosh tells his audience, “Thanks for clapping for what my parents are ashamed of.” A repeat warning: It’s a bracing hour.

3. Orlando’s Wayne Brady co-hosts the NAACP Image Awards, which air at 8 tonight on Fox. Holly Robinson Peete of “The Talk” is the other host. Brady, an entertainer of great gifts and boundless enthusiasm, will take part in an opening production number.

Also on the schedule this weekend:

4. “The Celebrity Apprentice” starts another season at 9 p.m. Sunday on NBC. The players include an Oscar winner (Marlee Matlin), a “Survivor” winner (Richard Hatch) and a top-selling Grammy winner (Dionne Warwick). Among the other contestants are Gary Busey, Jose Canseco, David Cassidy, Meat Loaf, La Toya Jackson, Star Jones and Lisa Rinna. What fun for Donald Trump. Will it be fun for others?

5. “Army Wives” starts its fifth season at 9 p.m. Sunday on Lifetime. The series premeire of “Coming Home,” a reality series about family reunions for members of the U.S. armed forces, follows at 10 on Lifetime.

Naacp Image Awards 2011

2011 NAACP Image Awards Winners in Movie: 'For Colored Girls' & 'Frankie and Alice'.

The 42nd annual NAACP Image Awards has unveiled its winners on March 4 and big nominee "For Colored Girls" came out as one of the big winners as well. It snatched three gongs including the coveted Outstanding Motion Picture award. It beat out "Just Wright", "The Book of Eli", "The Kids Are All Right" and "Why Did I Get Married Too?" for the title.

The movie also led Kimberly Elise to win Outstanding Supporting Actress kudo which was eyed by her co-stars Anika Noni Rose, Phylicia Rashad and Whoopi Goldberg, as well as Jill Scott of "Why Did I Get Married Too?". The other honor received by the based-on-play drama was Outstanding Directing for Tyler Perry.

Another movie from Perry, "Why Did I Get Married Too?", went home empty handed despite getting multiple nominations. Meanwhile, another big winner at the Friday event was "Frankie and Alice" starring Halle Berry with three nods.

The psychological drama helped Berry land Outstanding Actress prize, edging out Janet Jackson ("Why Did I Get Married Too?"), Kerry Washington ("Night Catches Us"), Queen Latifah ("Just Wright") and Zoe Saldana ("The Losers"). It was additionally tied with "Just Wright" as the winners in Outstanding Writing in a Motion Picture category and chosen as Outstanding Independent Motion Picture.

"Biutiful" was named Outstanding Foreign Motion Picture, while Denzel Washington ("The Book of Eli") and Samuel L. Jackson ("Mother and Child") also celebrated that night for they won Outstanding Actor and Outstanding Supporting Actor respectively.

This year's NAACP Image Awards was held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California and aired live on FOX. In addition to movie, the prize-giving event recognized the best achievements by people of color in TV, music and literature.

The Relevant Quote:
"And, of course, that is what all of this is - all of this: the one song, ever changing, ever reincarnated, that speaks somehow from and to and for that which is ineffable within us and without us, that is both prayer and deliverance, folly and wisdom, that inspires us to dance or smile or simply to go on, senselessly, incomprehensibly, beatifically, in the face of mortality and the truth that our lives are more ill-writ, ill-rhymed and fleeting than any song, except perhaps those songs - that song, endlesly reincarnated - born of that truth, be it the moon and June of that truth, or the wordless blue moan, or the rotgut or the elegant poetry of it. That nameless black-hulled ship of Ulysses, that long black train, that Terraplane, that mystery train, that Rocket '88', that Buick 6 - same journey, same miracle, same end and endlessness."

Parentlink

CCSD Uses Parentlink Phone Number To Invite Parents To Protest Budget Cuts.

Today, we got a phone call from Clark County School District Parentlink program encouraging parents to protest, err discuss, the proposed budget cuts next week. Parentlink is a way the parent and school can communicate. A parent can find out a kids grade and attendance and apparently CCSD can use Parentlink to encourage people to participate in political activities.
First, as a teacher, I received an e-mail from a union leader saying I should come to these meetings to protest, err discuss the budget cuts.
Now, I get a phone call from the school district about these same meetings.
Earlier this week, CCSD administrators and board members were up in Carson City lobbying legislators. The legislators know how CCSD stands on it's issues. The governor knows how CCSD feels. So, why the need to protest? Tell sob stories? Promote lies? Say we are competent leaders of the school district?
This is just CCSD putting on a dog and pony to protest the budget cuts.
Why is CCSD using government resources to encourage people to protest, err, discuss the budget cuts? Why is CCSD permitting the CCEA, the teachers union, to use it's resources in promoting the protests?
Maybe the CCSD board and administration should put more time in trying to figure what to do instead promoting protests that are not going to work.

Wes Leonard Dies: High School Basketball Player Collapses After Game-Winning Shot.

FENNVILLE, Mich. — A western Michigan high school basketball player collapsed on the court and later died after making the game-winning shot to cap his team's perfect season.

Fennville High School basketball player Wes Leonard, 16, died Thursday night, Holland Hospital spokeswoman Deb Patterson said. A cause of death has not yet been determined.

"It's tough to take in," Leonard's teammate Shane Bale, told The Holland Sentinel. "It's like somebody from your family, you know?"

Paramedics performed CPR on Leonard before he was pronounced dead at the hospital, Patterson said.

Leonard had scored the game-winning layup in a 57-55 win over Bridgman in overtime to cap Fennville's 20-0 season. He fell to the ground after teammates and fans rushed the court.

"Obviously, in the midst of celebration, I think shocking is exactly the word," Fennville Superintendent Dirk Weeldreyer told the paper before Leonard's ambulance left the high school.

Leonard also was a quarterback for the high school football team.

He's the second Fennville athlete to die in 14 months. Wrestler Nathaniel Hernandez died in January of 2010 after suffering a seizure at home following his participation in a high school wrestling match. He was 14.

In an interview with the Sentinel at Tuesday's practice, Fennville coach Ryan Klingler talked about how Leonard had a great drive to succeed and that he saw the "bigger picture."

Ticket Master

Tishman Prez Livingston, Cruise King Levine to Park; Ticket Master's Deep Discount.

— John Livingston knows a thing or two about building in New York, seeing as how he runs one of the city's biggest general contractors, Tishman Construction. Perhaps this insider knowledge helped him knock $875,000 off the price of his new home, a discount of nearly 20 percent. Mr. Livingston and wife Susan just paid $3.625 million for a three-bedroom, three-bath co-op on a high floor at 1130 Park Avenue. The north- and west-facing apartment has a generous layout arrayed around an entrance gallery and enjoys views of the Reservoir. The seller was the Estate Of Sylvia G. Kaplan.

— Eight years ago, Vincent La Padula left City Hall to go work for JPMorgan. Yet he and wife Christine McKelvey, who runs the foundation of her late father Andy, the founder of Monster and a half-dozen other businesses, could not make a good investment out of their Upper East Side home. After buying a collection of four apartments at the 1923 La Bourgogne for $3.2 million in 2007, the couple has just sold the L-shaped duplex for $2.4 million, a 25 percent discount. The lucky buyer Marzia Precoda is a frequent attendee of Patrick McMullan photo galleries and wife of former George Soros partner Dale Precoda. Two years ago the couple sold their Sutton Place home to Kenneth Cole for $14.5 million.

— Ticketmaster is known for gouging, but the company's former president, Eric Korman, has managed to slash the price on his new pied-à-terre. The Los Angeles-based "Internet Executive" (that's what his LinkedIn says) and his wife Cynthia just paid $5.06 million for a four-bedroom, four-bath condo at 180 East 93rd Street. The three-year-old development is designed by Barry Rice to look like a mini-prewar building, albeit with all the modern, "green" amenities. The Kormans' fourth-floor, full-floor unit has two balconies and a windowed whirlpool tub and was initially asking $6.2 million.

— Ahoy! Philip Levine of Miami Beach has just dropped anchor at 525 Park Avenue, a 1989 condo conversion of a 1914 apartment building. Mr. Levine runs the Baron Corporation, a travel and real estate investment outfit, and appears on The Today Show as a travel expert (as the video below attests). His new two-bedroom, two-bath cabin cost $3.895 million, according to city records, above the $3.75 million ask. Coincidentally, the sellers, Joseph Melone, the former head of the Equitable Companies, one of the nation’s largest insurers, and his wife Marie have just set sail for North Palm Beach.
