Lunar Eclipse

Watch lunar eclipse 2010 live stream video online here, plus check out these other sites to watch the lunar eclipse 2010 online – perfect if the skies are cloudy in your part of the world!
The lunar eclipse 2010 is certainly an event worth checking out – but areas that are experiencing rain, snow or otherwise non-clear viewing conditions can look online for live feed video to watch it all unfold.

It appears that for about half the country, the local weather will unfortunately not cooperate for a view of tonight's big moon show. For cities such Los Angeles, Chicago, Denver and Boston, the total lunar eclipse will likely be totally eclipsed by clouds. On the other hand, New York, Philadelphia, Miami and Dallas should enjoy mainly cloud-free conditions.

More details about when to watch the lunar eclipse 2010:

During tonight's lunar eclipse, the Earth will align between the full moon and the sun, covering the lunar surface in shadow. The eclipse is also falling on the same day as the winter solstice in the Northern Hemisphere – a rare occurrence that hasn't happened in 372 years. And to top it all off, the Ursids meteor shower is expected to create a few shooting stars tonight that should be especially visible given the dimmed moon.

Shelley Malil

Shelley Malil, which is the actor best known for playing an electronics store clerk in 'The 40-Year-Old Virgin,' was sentenced to life in prison Thursday for the attempted premeditated murder of his ex-girlfriend, Kendra Beebe. Malil was sentenced by San Diego County Superior Court Judge HARRY ELIAS three months after a jury had convicted him of attempted premeditated murder and assault with a deadly weapon. However, the actor was told that he may be eligible for parole in 12 years time. Malil apologised for stabbing Beebe and spoke of his desire to go to prison.

Also, Malil was found guilty of attempted premeditated murder and assault with a deadly weapon in September. The jury deliberated less than four hours before making the decision.
The actor will be eligible for parole in 12 years though prosecutor Keith Watanabe said with time already served and good behavior, Malil could be free in as little as nine years. Beebe was stabbed 20 times by Malil at her San Diego County home in August 2008 after he found her socializing with another man, David Maldonado. Malil said he felt threatened and believed Maldonado was going to kill him.

Defense attorney Matthew Roberts told jurors in his closing arguments that while there was no denying Malil went too far with the knife, he never intended to kill Beebe. Malil pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Candice Crawford

Tony Romo(Jessica Simpson's ex boyfriend) got engaged to girlfriend Candice Crawford on Thursday night.
The Dallas Cowboys quarterback, 30, proposed to Crawford at Five Sixty in Dallas, according to for whom KDAF TV Crawford works as a reporter. The two were celebrating Crawford's 24th birthday when she said yes. The couple have been dating officially since September 2009, though they were seen together a few months before that.Crawford is also a former beauty queen, having won the Miss Missouri USA crown in 2008. Crawford competed that same year in the Miss USA pageant.

Romo was previously linked to singer Carrie Underwood as well as Jessica Simpson for two years. Simpson famously told PEOPLE that Romo broke up with her on July 9, 2009, the night before her 29th birthday. And, at the same time, Jessica Simpson announced she's tying the knot with former footballer Eric Johnson just days after her ex, Nick Lachey, announced his engagement to longtime girlfriend Vanessa Minnillo.

Jemima Kirke

Jemima Kirke and Allison Williams have landed the two leads opposite Lena Dunham in Dunham's HBO comedy pilot executive produced by Judd Apatow and Jenni Kohner. Kirke co-starred opposite Dunham in Dunham's much buzzed about feature Tiny Furniture, which won the top prize at this year’s South by Southwest and just earned two Gotham Film Awards nominations. Dunham was the writer, director and star of the film, with Kirke playing her friend. (photo of the two from the movie is above; the trailer for the movie, which features Dunham and Kirke, is at the bottom of the story.) After the male-centric push of his earlier collaborations, Apatow has gotten involved with not one, but three notable female productions created by women -- 'Bridesmaids' with Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph, 'Business Trip' with wife Leslie Mann and the upcoming Lena Dunham series for HBO, 'Girls.' Lena Dunham quickly grabbed Apatow's attention with her semi-autobiographical SXSW indie 'Tiny Furniture,' which she wrote, directed and starred in.

As Dunham described it to Cinematical last month, the series is "about a girl in New York. There's the "Carrie" type of character, Hannah, who wants to be a writer (and will be played by Dunham), Marnie, a feisty woman who wants to be a lawyer (a la Miranda) and Jessa, a flakey artist. Considering that, Apatow certainly seems like an odd choice for producer of the series. However, Dunham hit the nail on the head last month in our chat with her, explaining that though "he's not known for female-centric stories," Apatow's "aesthetic has worked really well for this really girly story."

Faye Resnick

There's zero appreciate the exploitation of the OJ Simpson drown dry run to ensue ratings, is there?
On last night's The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills , Camille Grammer hosted a dinner party. By sheer, a woman naked Faye Resnick showed up in a totally unscripted coincidence.
A friend of Kyle Richards and a former gossip columnist, Resnick is best known for having penned "Nicole Brown Simpson: The Private Diary of a Life Interrupted." She posed for Playboy soon after this book came out, an appalling fact in Grammer's eyes.

We don't care much about the contrived argument between these two.

Sancho Panza

Learn to try this "The Amazing Race": 'Sancho Panza'

There they had to ride a bungee swing in order to get the next clue. It was awesome, like bungee jumping but not quite as scary.Following the bungee swing the teams had a road black where they had to help decorate a Tournament of Roses Parade float. Thomas, the last man standing, struggled a bit with the road block. Brook and Nat were both a lot more comfortable with the challenge, but all three teams still finished fairly quickly.

The next clue forced them to figure out clues, including who Sancho Panza's master was. Don Quixote is the answer and it was directing them to Quixote Studios where they had to play a game show-like challenge. The challenge was to pick out the 11 greeters from each pit stop and then put them in order. The good doctors got through the greeters challenge and took off for the finish line. The editing would've had you believe Nat and Kat were in danger because of stopped traffic, but we have a feeling it wasn't as close as that.

How do you feel about this race? Do you want to try this?
Now, get your pair and start the challenge. Start the race.

Dexter Season 5 Episode 12

In the season finale, Dexter’s situation grows desperate when he discovers that Lumen’s been set up. Despite knowing he’s being baited into a trap, Dexter risks everything to make sure he doesn’t fall into the same mistake again. In the Barrel Girls case, Debra lets her personal feelings lead her instincts once she concludes that vigilantes are more than just a theory. Quinn finds himself in a troublesome situation, which only Dexter can help him out of.Thats behind us anyway so let us proceed with the Dexter Season 5 Episode 12 preview.

I dont thing Deb is going to find about about Dexters secret hoby in Dexter Season 5 finale and that what we can see in Dexter Season 5 Episode 12 The Big One trailer clip when it seams that shes pointing her gun to Dexter holding a knife is just staged for the trailer but I could be mistaking but if it really happens then Dexter will probably make a diversion similar to when he was caught in Trinitys house without his vest on and he past as he just came first but well have to wait and see Dexter s05e12 Finale to know.
Now more then ever it seems possible that Dexter could poll out throwing the vigilante murders to the Chases rape club first victim-she is dead and silenced by Chase but now more possibilities open up . One more possibility comes to my mind and that is if Dexter pings it on her and knowing that Miami Metro led by Debras vigilante theory think ( and think right) that the women has a accomplice maybe they could think its Chase -he is connected to all of the rape club members but no other evidence connect him to the victims , he knows the first victim, maybe it could turn out he was helping her take revenge but it got bad and he killed her and went on the run.

Dexter Season 5 Episode 12 s05e12 summary: Dexter is lured into a trap. Quinn puts his personal feelings about Dexter aside in order to ask for his help. Deb allows her emotions cloud her judgment.
You better watch this. You better not cry.

Kimbo Slice Dead

Rumours have been spreading around the Internet over the past couple of hours that MMA fighter Kimbo Slice has died but according to the man himself, he's not!

Slice took to Twitter on Monday morning to address the rumours which quick spread on the social networking site following the death of a Kevin Ferguson (The true name of Kimbo).

I can remember watching UFC 40 in past years when Tito Ortiz pummeled Shamrock in their first-ever meeting. I hated Ortiz for doing that. Can we call it a kind of being an irrational anger? Absolutely. But I was a Shamrock fan and Ortiz had just beaten my guy. Unfortunately, it wouldn’t be the the last time he’d take a beating at the hands of Ortiz.
The losses to Ortiz made it easy to forget that Shamrock was both the first-ever King of Pancrase and the UFC’s first-ever Superfight champion. But the simple truth of the matter is he’s far removed from the time in which he known as the “World’s Most Dangerous Man.”
While nostalgia is fun, the reality is that the 44-year old Shamrock is 0-5 in his last fight bouts and hasn’t won since 2004. His career looked to have hit rock bottom following a first round knockout against heavyweight journeyman Robert “Buzz” Berry this past March during a Cage Rage event. It was a fight set up for Shamrock to win and in losing, it appeared he was all but done.
Flash forward to the present and Shamrock has been handed a golden opportunity to set to things right. Scheduled to face Kimbo Slice in the main event of EliteXC and CBS’ third installment of Saturday Night Fights on Oct. 4, Shamrock finds himself with one last shot at redemption.

Mark Madoff

NEW YORK — The eldest son of disgraced financier Bernard Madoff hanged himself by a dog leash in his apartment Saturday after two years of "unrelenting pressure" following his father's arrest in a multibillion-dollar fraud that enveloped the entire family, law enforcement officials and a family attorney said.

Mark Madoff was found hanging from a ceiling pipe in the living room of his SoHo loft apartment on Saturday, the second anniversary of Madoff's arrest in a multibillion-dollar Ponzi scheme that swindled thousands of investors of their life savings, two law enforcement officials told The Associated Press. His 2-year-old son was sleeping in the next bedroom, the officials said.
Mark Madoff, who reported his father to authorities the day after he confessed his fraud to them, has never been criminally charged in the investigation that has snared a half-dozen Madoff employees. He and his brother Andrew have said they were unaware of their father's crimes. But they have been remained under investigation and been named in multiple investor lawsuits.

Mark Madoff's lawyer, Martin Flumenbaum, said the 46-year-old had taken his own life Saturday.

The law enforcement officials, speaking on condition of anonymity because they weren't authorized to speak publicly about the death, said that Mark Madoff's wife Stephanie, who is in Florida with another son, became concerned about her husband after he sent an e-mail to her Friday night or early Saturday morning that someone should check on the 2-year-old child with him.
She asked her father to check on the home, where he found Madoff's body; the child was sleeping in a bedroom unharmed. A dog was also found in the apartment, the officials said.
Bernard Madoff, 72, swindled a long list of investors out of billions of dollars. He admitted that he ran his scheme for at least two decades, cheating thousands of individuals, charities, celebrities and institutional investors. Losses are estimated at around $20 billion, making it the biggest investment fraud in U.S. history.
He was arrested on Dec. 11, 2008, after confessing his crimes to his family.

This is a terrible and unnecessary tragedy.

army navy game

Army Navy Game.

It doesn't matter if you are conservative or liberal, Democrat or Republican, male or female. Everyone I know believes in supporting and praising our brave troops. One can disagree with war policy but still appreciate the sacrifices our soldiers and their families make for our country.
My father is an ex-Marine who served in Iwo Jima during World War II. I feel we Americans can never repay him and his generation of war heroes for what they have done, not just for this nation, but the world.
2010-12-09-ArmyNavyhandshakeGetty.jpg
Having seen war first-hand, my dad is also a pacifist. But that doesn't mean he can't accept the thankfulness of a new generation of Americans. He sports his Iwo Jima Marine cap with pride. Whenever he wears it in public, people come up to him to show their appreciation, at times even offering to buy his dinner.

This mutual admiration for our Armed Forces is one of the reasons that the Army-Navy game, which will be played Saturday (2:30 p.m.) at Lincoln Financial Field -- home of the Philadelphia Eagles -- is an event that transcends politics and sports. As a sporting event, it has lost some of its athletic significance through its 110 years. There was a time (in 1926, 1944, 1945, and 1963) when the game actually had national championship implications. However, since then -- as top level college football has developed into a training ground for the NFL -- military commitment, high academic entrance requirements, and height and weight limits have reduced the overall competitiveness of both academies.
So sports-wise, it's not the Super Bowl or NCAA championship or even the level of some of the college bowls. But as a tradition and century-old rivalry, no event can match it. Navy leads the series 54-49-7. One of the great appeals of the game may be that few, if any, of the participants will ever play in the NFL (Roger Staubach, Phil McConkey, and Napoleon McCallum being notable exceptions), hence they are playing solely for the love of the game (and the rivalry and the Thompson Cup, named after its donor, Robert M. Thompson).

There is also the pomp and circumstance. Journalist Joseph P. Owens of the ExpressTimes wrote of the 2009 Army-Navy contest at Lincoln Financial Field: "The game was entertaining, but the memories are made in all the pageantry and festivities before the game." Last year's event featured the Navy Leap Frogs parachuting into the stadium. Navy won, 17-3.
Usually, high ranking officers such as the Secretary of Defense (Robert Gates in 2009) and even the Commander in Chief attend. In fact, the contest has been nicknamed the "President's Game." The tradition of presidents attending began in 1901 with Theodore Roosevelt. Former Presidents Calvin Coolidge, Harry S. Truman, John F. Kennedy, Gerald Ford, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush all have presided over the event. Ironically, Dwight G. Eisenhower, the only U.S. president to play in the game (Eisenhower played for the Army Cadets in a 6-0 loss in 1912), and Jimmy Carter, the only other U.S. President to go to one of the academies (USNA), never attended the competition as president.
Regarding Presidential visits, the most emotional games played may have been in 1963 and 2001. President John F. Kennedy was a Navy hero in WWII and he attended in 1961 and 1962, initiating the practice of having the Commander in Chief do the pre-game coin toss. He was assassinated on November 22, 1963, eight days before he was supposed to attend the Army-Navy event.

Alistair Overeem

Alistair Overeem.

There hasn’t been one before him and it may be a while before there’s another like him, but Alistair Overeem became the first MMA champion to also be crowned the K-1 World Grand Prix champion, after he defeated fellow Dutchman Peter Aerts to win the title in Japan.
Overeem said several times this year that he wanted to take K-1 seriously, which for MMA fans drew him away from that sport, but it looks like his plan paid off with three consecutive victories, the final being the TKO win over Peter Aerts.

Kelly Osbourne

Kelly Osbourne.

The "Fashion Police" star finally blew the whistle on her own two feet. The "Dancing With the Stars" alum will undergo surgery on both feet that will leave her unable to walk – much less dance – for months afterwards. Osbourne says "DWTS" didn't cause the problems, but sped up the need for surgery.

Related story:
We'll get to Kelly Osbourne's scary sounding surgery in a second, but first let's talk fashion!

She is thisclose to finally signing a deal to design her own clothing collection. "I've had an offer from an amazing clothing line that I would be so over the moon to work with them," she says. "I can't say which one just yet, but it's looking really good."
Osbourne promises whatever she does will be affordable.
"It's important to me not to make clothes which I call 'untouchable' clothing," she said. "I don't want it to be clothes that only rich people could buy."
Osbourne and a friend launched a line, Stiletto Killers, in 2004 but it closed within a couple of years.
New business isn't the only pressing matter on Osbourne's mind. She has to have surgery on not one, but both of her feet. She had foot problems before Dancing With the Stars, but her stint on the show "made it worse."
"It was going to happen but [Dancing With the Stars] kicked it up about 10 years," she said. "They have to break bones in my feet and reset them. I've put it off because I've not been ready to not walk for a month."
Yikes.

Miley Cyrus Bong Video

Miley Cyrus Bong Video.

This oughta get the blogosphere chatting about Miley Cyrus again. TMZ.com has gotten it’s Hot Little Hands on cellphone video footage of the scandal-prone singer-actress smoking a legal substance out of a bong, cursing, and laughing uncontrollably while a friend records the whole scene.

Oh Miley, you make it so easy to make fun of you!

Miles turned 18 just last month, but she’s already five minutes away from a sex tape and her first trip to rehab. In the video obtained by TMZ, Cyrus is taped “tripping” at a belated birthday party at her Los Angeles home just five days after her 18th birthday. She can be seen smoking the herb salvia through a bong. Salvia, which has psychedelic qualities, is legal in California. It is often compared to the effects which a user gets from LSD. LSD, however, is man-made, whereas salvia, like marijuana, grows naturally. Both drugs contain salvinorin A.

We know that this probably became an age-old question after her umpteenth nearly-nude picture scandal, but “What the Hell Happened to Miley Cyrus?!” Once a cute Disney star with a famous dad, Miley is now a sexually charged vamp, who has completely transformed herself in a few short years. From accusations of racism to pause-worthy lapdances and barely-there clothing, Miley has gone the way of Britney Spears — and it could get worse.

Christina Aguilera Racy Photos

Christina Aguilera Racy Photos.

Christina Aguilera’s racy photos were just released on the internet after a hacker got into the personal account of Christina Aguilera’s personal stylist. The Christina Aguilera leaked photos are causing quite a stir, and a big question is why Christina Aguilera’s stylist had the racy pictures in the first place.

A statement made by Christina Aguilera’s rep said that the racy photos were, “taken in the privacy of Ms. Aguilera’s home and were used only in a personal exchange between the star and her stylist.”
Considering that Christina Aguilera was still married to husband Jordan Bratman when the pictures were taken, it definitely makes us wonder about how involved her relationship with her personal stylist was. Why would the stylist have semi-nude photos of her?
What do you think about Christina Aguilera’s racy photos?

Elizabeth Edwards Death

Elizabeth Edwards Death.

Elizabeth Edwards breathed her last, succumbing to metastatic breast cancer on Tuesday, December 7, 2010, at home in Chapel Hill, surrounded by friends and family.

It was not more than a day that the family of Elizabeth Edwards, announced that that the doctors have advised to give up treatment.

Elizabeth Edwards began her career as a law clerk for a Federal Juudge and moved on to take up the role as an associate at the law firm of Harwell Barr Martin & Sloan in 1978. In 1981 she worked in the Office of the Attorney General, and at the law firm Merriman, Nicholls, and Crampton. She dropped her legal role that she played after the sudden demise of her son and gave up her maiden name.

The death of her son led to the emergence of 'Wade Edwards Foundation', aimed at aiding high school children. She then took up the role of an adjunct instructor at the University of North Carolina School of Law and parallely worked as a substitute teacher in the Wake County Public Schools.

Cancer was but yet another battle that she had to combat while she had suffered the death of her son Wade Edwards, who was killed in a Jeep crash and the infidelity of her husband, who publicly confessed about fathering a child with another woman. This marked the end of her marital relationship, filing for a divorce, which required a compulsory separation for a year.

WASHINGTON -- Elizabeth Edwards, who closely advised her husband in two bids for the presidency and advocated for health care even as her marriage publicly crumbled, died Tuesday after a six-year struggle with cancer. She was 61.

She died at her North Carolina home surrounded by her three children, siblings, friends and her estranged husband, John, the family said.

Bushkill Park

Bushkill Park.

Things didn’t look that rosy for Bushkill Park this Summer, when owners Sammy Baurkot and Neal Fehnel had to put on hold their project of reviving the park because of lack of funds.
In 2004, when , Hurricane Ivan struck, the old amusement park in Forks Township was flooded. Its iconic Haunted Pretzel ride has been completely destroyed, and many of its other rides suffered irreparable damages. So the park closed, and ulterior attempts to reopen it were unsuccessful: poor management being one of the main reasons.
When Walt Reis and Frank Clever reopened the park in 2006, without its Haunted Pretzel, Bumper Cars and The Whip rides, the number of visitors during the season was way below expectations. Debt closed the park down completely, and vandalism destroyed its remaining attractions, including “Bar’l of Fun” one of America’s oldest fun-houses.

But things could take a better turn for Bushkill Park. The venue was recently visited by Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz, the stars of American Pickers, a documentary reality television series on History Channel, that focuses more on antiques and collectibles. Wolfe and Fritz explore people’s homes, barns, sheds, and other outbuildings in search for other peoples’ “junk” – in many cases valuable collectibles. The two run a home-business, Antique Archaeology, in Le Claire, Iowa. The show on History Channel, which debuted January 18, 2010, has made a huge difference in their business, making Antique Archaeology an internationally recognized brand. Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz are also synonymous with their business. Their interest for any random venue in the world can instantly capture media and public attention. This is what happened yesterday, after the third season of American Pickers debuted with A Banner Pick, featuring the Bushkill Park in Easton, and some of its vintage sideshow banners.
Fritz and Wolfe paid $700 for these, a sweet bargain, if you consider their real value. The banners, made by the O. Henry Tent & Awning Co., were appraised at $5,000 to $6,000 each. The appraiser said that they were the work of sideshow sign artist Fred Johnson, and to Fritz and Wolfe’s delight, the signs sold for $10,000 at an online auction. The two pickers went back to Bushkill Park and gave Neal Fehnel $5000 from the win. You can only imagine the park owner’s joy – a hope for the park’s future:

Erica Blasberg

Erica Blasberg.

LAS VEGAS — The Clark County coroner's office ruled Tuesday that 25-year-old professional golfer Erica Blasberg's death was a suicide.
Blasberg died May 9 at her home in Henderson, about 15 miles southeast of the Las Vegas Strip. She was found with a plastic bag secured over her head.
Henderson police said that while no foul play is suspected they have issued a misdemeanor arrest warrant for Dr. Thomas Hess on obstruction charges. Police said Hess, who discovered Blasberg's body, removed items from the scene, including a suicide note.
The contents of the note haven't been disclosed.
Hess turned himself into authorities, was booked into jail and released about 35 minutes later, after posting $637 in bail Tuesday afternoon, Henderson police spokesman Keith Paul said.
David Mincavage, an assistant city attorney in Henderson, said the nonviolent misdemeanor charges against Hess carry a maximum penalty of a $1,000 fine and six months in jail.
Mincavage said he could not comment further on the case, and Paul declined to say whether additional charges were possible.
The coroner's office said Blasberg died of suicide due to asphyxia, coupled with the presence of toxic levels of prescription medication in her system, including prescription headache, cough, pain and anti-anxiety medications.
The drugs in Blasberg's system included butalbital, temazepam, alprazolam, codeine, hydrocodone, and tramadol, according to the coroner, but Nevada law doesn't permit the release of details on the amounts of medication.

"While asphyxia was the primary cause of death, the presence of prescription drugs in Ms. Blasberg's system was a significant factor," Coroner Michael Murphy said.
A 911 call from Hess that summoned police came from the house, and Blasberg was alone when officers arrived, police have said. Blasberg's agent said her bags were packed for a tournament in Mobile, Ala., when she was found.
The death investigation was complicated, police said, because Hess admitted altering the scene – including the removal of the note indicating Blasberg took her own life – and he stopped cooperating with detectives. Hess hid the note and prescription medications in his vehicle.
In a 911 call obtained from police by The Associated Press, Hess says he came to the house to check on her after she didn't leave for the tournament.
"I called her yesterday, she was supposed to be leaving for a golf tournament but she didn't," an agitated Hess said on the call. "She picked up the phone and she sounded intoxicated at that time."
Hess said Blasberg had consumed a "couple drinks" and was sad the night before her death, but didn't indicate she wanted to kill herself.
When asked by the female operator whether Blasberg was beyond resuscitation, Hess replied: "I'm a doctor."
But Hess didn't say he was Blasberg's doctor, instead saying he "knew her from the golf club."
When the operator told Hess she was sending police, she asked him to wait outside the house.
"Try not to touch anything," she said.
"Yes ma'am," he replied.
Calls from The Associated Press to Blasberg's father, Mel Blasberg, her agent Chase Callahan and Hess' lawyer Charles Kelly were not immediately returned.
The Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners in Reno said Hess' medical license is active and he has had no disciplinary action or pending complaints. He got his license to practice in Nevada in July 2003.
Blasberg grew up in Southern California, and was in her sixth season on the LPGA Tour.
She was a former junior golf standout, an All-American in 2003 and 2004. She was the 2003 NCAA Freshman of the Year and 2003 Pac-10 Player of the Year while at the University of Arizona.
She turned professional in June 2004, and won once on the Duramed FUTURES Tour before qualifying for the LPGA Tour in 2005.
Her best year on Tour was 2008, when she earned a career-best tie for eighth at the SBS Open in Hawaii and more than $113,000 in winnings, the LPGA said.
Blasberg played in one event this season, tying for 44th in the April 29-May 2 Tres Marias Championship in Morelia, Mexico.

Philippines Hostage

 Philippines Hostage.

The ethnic Chinese couple, a man of 72 and his 66-year-old wife, were among nine hostages the police inspector disgruntled over his sacking had allowed off the bus five hours after the hi-jacking began.
As darkness fell after nine hours of negotiations, the mood changed dramatically and Rolando Mendoza, 55, a highly-decorated police officer, began shooting the hostages and firing out at police snipers.

But as criticism by the Chinese government and Hong Kong authorities mounted over the handling of the police operation the Philippines new president Benigno Aquino promised a full inquiry.
The bloody denouement played out live on television showed ill-equipped and confused police teams surround the bus, but then take 70 minutes to gain entry.
The gunman was shot in the head by a police sniper after he wounded one policeman and teargas grenades were finally tossed into the vehicle.
By then eight of the hostages were dead in grim scenes that sparked sadness and outrage in Hong Kong, even though six other tourists miraculously escaped injury along with the Filipino driver.
Police admitted today that they had made blunders in efforts to end the hi-jacking by the former policeman trying to win his job back after he was dismissed on charges of robbery and extortion.
Manila police commander Leocadio Santiago: "We saw some obvious shortcomings in terms of capability and tactics used, or the procedure employed and we are now going to investigate this."
The lucky British couple, who have not been named, were among nine hostages released earlier as a gesture by the gunman. British embassy consular staff in Manila spoke to the couple who were unharmed and they spent the night in a hotel.
But China called for a “thorough investigation” into the bungled rescue mission which came after both Chinese and Hong Kong officials had urged that Philippines police not to use violence in resolving the stand-off.
China’s foreign minister Yang Jiechi was said to be “appalled” at the bloodshed and telephoned his Philippines counterpart Alberto Romulo to voice his concern about the incident, according to the state-run Xinhua news agency.
“The Chinese government demands the Philippine government launch a thorough investigation into the incident and inform the Chinese side of related details as soon as possible,” Mr Yang said, according to a statement released by the foreign ministry.
For his part, Mr Romulo said the Philippines government felt “deep sorrow” for the incident, pledging to everything possible to save the injured and promising to carry out a complete investigation into the incident and convey the results to the Chinese side as soon as possible.
Following the shootings, China has dispatched a team of officials to Manila to deal with the aftermath of the hijacking.
“China has requested the Philippine side to take pragmatic measures to ensure life and property safety of Chinese nationals in the country,” a foreign ministry spokesman added.
In Hong Kong, the leader of the Chinese territory, Donald Tsang, called the attack a tragedy, his voice choking in a rare display of emotion.
"It's disappointing that Hong Kong residents tried to make a pleasure trip to Manila and ended up with death and casualties,” he said. “This is very tragic. And the way it was handled and particularly the outcome I found it disappointing.”
In Hong Kong flags on government buildings flew at half-mast and a few Chinese-language newspapers changing their mast-head colour from red to black, their front pages dominated by graphic photographs of the bloodbath.
The government’s anger was reflected by the survivors. One said her husband and two daughters were killed in a hail of bullets while her son was in intensive care in hospital.
The woman, identified only as Mrs Leung expressed her anguish to Hong Kong officials in remarks broadcast on Cable News TV.
“The Philippine government . . . I can't accept this. Why did they do this to us?" she said, sobbing. “[The gunman] did not want to kill us. He only shot us after the negotiations failed.”

Texas Big Ten

Texas Big Ten.

College Station, Texas, based sources close to Texas A&M confirm the scenario of Texas A&M, Texas and Nebraska joining the Big 10, bringing the total to 14.  This is totally logical when you think about it.  Hence, the "Tech problem", as Texas Tech is attempting (has attempted?) to stand in the way.  Everyone knows UT Austin drives the cattle in conference expansion, and well-heeled alumni have (loudly and repeatedly) let it be known they are not enthralled with going to Corvallis or Pullman for 11 pm EST Saturday night games.  Conversely, and direct quoting: "we love the idea of Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State road games" at their respective 110,000 seat Casas’ Grande.  "We especially like the idea of those fans coming here (Texas) rather than the Baylors and Texas Techs,  because those schools will fill hotel rooms and support local restaurants and businesses.   It simply makes sense for Texas".  He continued, "It will be a bowl game-like atmosphere every Saturday these schools come to town".

Dancing With The Stars Finale

Dancing With The Stars Finale.

The finale of 'Dancing With The Stars' had the smart notion of mixing in new routines with unnecessary fluff instead of just silly group dances or musical guests. We get to see the return of Buzz Aldrin and Kate Gosselin even though both don't get close to the final three contestants.

Finale starts off with a big group opening. I found it funny that Buzz and Kate stood with each other and didn't move much. It's like the Miss Universe pageant where the bad dancers are stuck in the back.

Niecy has a minor solo while all the pros have intense spins on the main stage. Kate is the most awkward during the soul train section. She couldn't even get walking and holding a fan right. Five bucks says she never practiced. Chad had a football related injury, but it seems like because of time constraints, we never get to talk to him again.

Metro pcs.

Mobile phones are a wonderful piece of technology. The person who invented it has helped people today. These phones have very revolutionized communication. Who knew that you can move to some other place and still be able to communicate with someone using the same handset? It is a mystery, but it is a great news, there is much appreciated.
These days, mobile phones are more than just ways of communication. They can be used for entertainment and many other purposes. Some of the features that are included in the current mobile phones have Bluetooth technology and infrared (for data transfer), GPRS, EDGE or 3G (for surfing the Internet), media files and many other features. The more advanced phones known as 3G phones enable sending e-mails and even some offer video conferencing. The wonderful thing about technology is that it is dynamic. New things keep being discovered and implemented. This is the same with the Metro PCS Cell Phones. These phones are provided by Metro PCS provider that has unique properties. After finding out whether your phone is within the Metro PCS service plan, it would be important that you register with them. This will ensure that your SIM and phone settings are enabled with Metro PCS service. This can be a great help especially when your Metro PCS Cell Phone is stolen. Besides this, one should know the serial number (also known as the IMEI) of their mobile phone. You can only know by calling * # 2006 # (you can do even as you read this ... it works). It would be important for you to note this number. This is because in case your phone is stolen, you may be able to send that number to your mobile phone network service providers to block both your SIM card and phone are used.
Metro PCS Mobile phones are no ordinary phones. They come in built with special features like camera. You may be able to take pictures of important events and wonderful moments with friends. Not all phones will have cameras, but these phones can be uniquely identified.

Betty White snl

Betty White snl.

This is the moment you all have been waiting for! Betty White will finally host SNL tonight. Not only will she host, she will also share the stage with rapper Jay-Z. I believe we are in for a comical treat ladies and gents! Be sure to check out pictures and videos below.

This hip ‘ol granny may have been a little hesitant at first, but eventually welcomed this incredible opportunity. About her SNL tonight gig, White said, “The nerves are running rampant tonight because I’m scared to death, if you really want to know the truth,” adding, “Well, there are a lot of sketches coming up. I know it seems like about 350, and I will be doing a couple of sketches with Jay-Z, so that should be fun.” For all her friends who seem to think Betty is “over-the-hill,” she boasts about meeting the rap star. We don’t care, Betty, you are completely cool!

Yes, you heard right. Jay-Z will also be front and center as SNL’s musical guest. You can almost bet that Betty will be in on that one! Of course, she will be joined by former SNL comics for a Mother’s Day extravaganza: Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Molly Shannon, Maya Rudolph, Ana Ana Gasteyer, and Rachel Dratch.

Well, Betty’s millions of fans will be tuning in tonight to continuously support and adoration for the 88 year-old superstar. In a conference call, the Golden Girl said, “It blows my mind,” adding, “I can’t get over, at my age, what all’s going on. All I can do is roll with the punches, enjoy it thoroughly, and be grateful for it.” She definately is a leading lady!

Rush Card

Rush Card.

Rush Limbaugh mocks, demeans NJ students protesting teacher cuts.
I’ll give this much to Rush Limbaugh: He is a brave man for posting the
transcripts of his radio program online and allowing everyone to read the absolutely ridiculous things he says on the air. Then again, being so rich as to have a staff at home which “lights fragrant candles throughout the house to greet his arrival from work each day,” he probably doesn’t care what anyone thinks about the vitriol he spews forth each day. I don’t particularly care, either, when it comes to politics. After all, Barack Obama, Harry Reid, and Nancy Pelosi got in the game knowing critics like Rush spend their lives looking for ways to pick apart the ideas of others.

However, I do care when his vitriol spills over to people who don’t deserve it, which is what happened during a portion of his Thursday program. George Jones and Jamel Gamble are two high school seniors who, like thousands of New Jersey students this week, protested Governor Christie’s impending state budget cuts that will result in massive teacher layoffs.

Boston Marathon 2010

Boston Marathon 2010.

Valerie Bertinelli, Tom Brady's siblings and a boy in a burger suit are just some of the big-hearted runners today who will help the Boston Marathon race past the $100-million mark in charitable dollars raised since 1989.

It's the world's oldest and most venerable annual race. But this year it is among the most charitable, too. The Boston Marathon expects to exceed $100 million in total funds raised by its official charity program since it started in 1989. The Boston Marathon draws a field of 26,750 competitive runners, including the largest field of women ever this year (more than 11,000), but in order to run, entrants must run in one of 400 qualifying marathons around the world. One way to skip the qualifier, however, is to run under the aegis of one of 24 Boston Marathon official charities. This year, 1,350 runners from those 24 charities are expected to raise more than $10 million.

John Hancock Financial, which has served as the principal sponsor of the Boston Marathon for 25 years, also provides spots to charity runners as part of its sponsorship privileges. The 24 official Boston Marathon charities includes the American Liver Foundation, which was the first and only Boston Marathon charity in 1989 raising $6,600, and the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, which has drawn runners from around the world with the goal of raising $4.4 million on Monday. Among Dana-Farber's marathoners will be actress and Jenny Craig pitchwoman Valerie Bertinelli (below, left), who is strapping on her running shoes and will follow the historic 26.2 mile route from Hopkinton to Boston.
