Pacquiao Wins Against Mosley
LAS VEGAS – The pound-for-pound king wasn’t his usual self inside the boxing ring but Manny Pacquiao did more than enough to dominate Sugar Shane Mosley for 12 rounds in their title bout Saturday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
Pacquiao knocked down the 39-year-old Mosley in the third round and had the aging former champion in retreat mode soon thereafter to successfully defend the World Boxing Organization (WBO) championship.
All three judges scored unanimously in favor for Pacquiao, who extends his winning streak to 14. Pacquiao hasn’t lost a bout since 2005.
The fight against Mosley wasn’t vintage Pacquiao but don’t blame the Filipino Congressman. Many in the sold out pro-Pacquiao crowd of more than 16,000 wanted an exciting bout but all they got was Mosley seemingly more interested in surviving and leaving the ring on his two feet and with his ego – and legacy - intact rather than engaging against the aggressive and oft frustrated Pacquiao, who kept going for the knockout.
Mosley, who has never been knocked out in his long career, admits he didn’t want to take any risks in the bout especially after suffering a knock down in the third round.
What do you think about their fight?
