The world is still assessing the scale of destruction and human loss following in the wake of last week's giant earthquake in the Caribbean nation of Haiti, early estimates placing the death toll as high as 100,000 people.
Shocked by the horror of the quake and mindful of Haiti's pressing need for aid, charities and international organisations are ramping up their efforts in the hope of preventing further horrid losses.
Game developers are doing their bit, too, PopCap donating a day's proceeds from their PopCap store to the aid effort, while Bungie are urging players to show their support in Halo 3 by wearing a Haitian relief emblem.
For every 1000th player wearing the badge (up to 77,000 USD), Bungie will donate 100 USD to the Red Cross, with special T-shirts also being sold.
Social media developers Zynga, meanwhile, are opening a World Food Programme fund with 100 percent of the profits going to Haiti.
