Now that this season's 'Dancing With the Stars' cast is official, we can commence the second stage of 'DWTS' reaction -- namely, just who the heck are some of these people?
For the non-parents and non-Disney Channel afficianados among us, one of the biggest question marks of the just-announced cast is Chelsea Kane. Actually, the name might be unfamiliar even to the biggest of Disney Channel fans, considering the actress just changed her name from Chelsea Staub two weeks ago.
The 'Jonas L.A.' star explained on her Twitter account earlier this month that the name change was solely for convenience (and to avoid the constant butchering when people pronounced it incorrectly).
"No. I did not get married. Yes. Kane is my middle name," she wrote. "Why? People struggled with pronouncing and spelling 'Staub.' Got tired of 'Stab' and 'Stub,' so 'Chelsea Kane' makes life simpler. I know it's a little strange to get used to, but thanks for making the best of it until we all get comfortable with it!"
The 22-year-old actress is best known as the Jonas Brothers' sassy friend Stella Malone on Disney Channel comedy 'Jonas'/'Jonas L.A.,' but Kane's currently voicing one of the three leads on the animated Disney series 'Fish Hooks' with former 'DWTS' competitor Kyle Massey. She also co-starred in last year's Disney Channel Original Movie 'Starstruck,' and played one of the leads in the 'Bratz' movie.
As for Kane's newest role, the actress seemed to have mixed emotions about the upcoming 'DWTS' competition. "Shaking with sheer excitement! Gulp. And pure panic," she tweeted. "Yup, it's official! Life is a dance floor and I'm gonna give it a whirl!"
Perhaps Massey, who came in second place last season, could give her a few pointers?
