Sprint Looking Hard At Possible T-Mobile Purchase?
The whispers are getting louder, as the idea of a Sprint purchase of T-Mobile seems like a good idea to some, and the possibility of the third and fourth players in the cell phone customer volume sweepstakes joining together making a run for number two a reality.
Sprint, though struggling since the purchase of Nextel, and subsequent mishandling of the network integration of those two companies, has been struggling – though you might not know it from the bravado in the ads they put out, and the way they manage their business.
After all, how many companies, that are still in business, ever had the nerve to fire customers?
One might wonder how the merged Sprint and T-Mobile customer service would come out, as Sprint has the absolute worst customer service, judged so over several evaluation cycles, while T-Mobile has consistently been at the very top, with several J.D. Powers surveys attesting to the fact.
Of course, there is also my own experience with both companies. As a sales person, and customer, of both companies, at different times, I can state that the surveys reflect the basic truths. Sprint suffers from an overinflated sense of well-being, and its network and customer service areas could use lots of sprucing up this spring, as neither are as efficient or as useful as they would believe, and T-Mobile continuously works to improve upon its network, which has some problems, while its customer service is without peer.
What do you think of Sprint?
