Dalai Lama To Step Down As Tibet Political Leader.

Buddhist spiritual leader Dalai Lama plans to step down as the Tibet political leader, being in exile from his home-country Tibet in Himachal Pradesh’s Dharamsala.

Dalai Lama said, "As early as the 1960s, I have repeatedly stressed that Tibetans need a leader, elected freely by the Tibetan people, to whom I can devolve power. Now, we have clearly reached the time to put this into effect."

Even though Dalai Lama’s decision needs to get the formal approval of the Tibetan parliament-in-exile in India, he expressed that his stepping-down can obviously bring long-term benefit to Tibetans. Dalai Lama moved away from Tibet in 1959, after he saw the uprising against Chinese rule failing. Interestingly, he proposes "meaningful autonomy" for Tibet in Chinese territory as of now.
